The Flemish Government is in charge of Dutch-language education in the Brussels Region. Its aim is to reach a "genuine and lived bilingualism" among the Brussels population. For this purpose, it commits itself to providing places in Dutch-language schools for all Brussels children whose families wish them to be educated in Dutch. Further, in Brussels as in Flanders, it will allow linguistic initiation in other languages at primary school providing the level pupils have reached in Dutch are high enough and will keep allowing immersion projects at secondary school. It intends tightening the language learning condition among job seekers and people applying for social housing in Flanders. And as soon as the obligatory integration course for newcomers will be effectively implemented in Brussels too, it will invest further in this sector so as to be able to cope with the increased demand. All relevant passages in the programme are included in attachment.
