The Brussels Region’s Flemish Community Commission wants to make multilingualism "the spearhead of its policies" and to foster a positive attitude towards multilingualism. It will take many initiatives in order to improve competence in Dutch and other languages among Brussels’ linguistically diverse population. In particular, it will promote immersion education (CLIL), the exchange of teachers between French- and Dutch-language schools, the training of bilingual teachers who could staff future bilingual schools and the use of leisure activities for the purpose of language learning. All relevant passages in the programme are included in attachment.
